2020 Tata Altroz Rival Maruti Suzuki Baleno Comparison?

Tata Altroz comparison with Maruti Suzuki Baleno (XZ vs Alpha variant) comparison based on dimensions, size, engine, transmission, power, features for petrol and diesel.

The new Tata Altroz is trying to set the new benchmark in the premium hatchback segment. Tata is calling the Altroz gold standard and to go with the name, it’s also available in gold colour option. Let’s put that claim to test by comparing the top variant of Altroz with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s top variant (Altroz XZ vs Baleno Alpha). We need to compare the dimensions, engine, transmission, power, torque and feature for both petrol and diesel engines.

2020 Tata Altroz Vs Maruti Baleno

In dimensions, both cars are very closely matched. But, the Tata Altroz comes out on top with a slightly wider and taller body. Although it has a smaller wheelbase and slightly less ground clearance. The boot space is comparable as the Altroz XZ has 345-litre boot space while the Baleno has 339 litres of boot capacity.

In the petrol engine comparison, the Tata Altroz has 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque from a 1.2-litre engine. The Maruti Baleno has 83PS and 113Nm so, the Altroz has a slight advantage. But it has a better advantage in terms of torque delivery. Its torque comes early at 3300rpm. So it should be easier to drive the Tata Altroz petrol in the city because the Baleno’s torque comes at 4200rpm. So, Maruti Baleno’s petrol engine is good for enjoyable driving characteristics.

Both cars have a 5-speed manual transmission. But Baleno also has a CVT automatic option.

The diesel engine of the Tata Altroz is a good option again because of its low-end torque delivery. It makes 90PS of power, 15PS more than Baleno diesel. It also makes 200Nm of torque from 1250rpm to 3000rpm. The Baleno only has 190Nm of torque at 2000rpm. With the diesel engine, both cars only have a 5-speed manual transmission.

The 2020 Tata Altroz has a good list of features which are not available in Baleno. Similarly, the Baleno has some features that aren’t available in Altroz.

Renault Triber vs Hyundai Venue: Specification Comparison

The Renault Triber made its global debut in India in June 2019, and it is likely to launch in August. While Renault is yet to open the Triber’s bookings, the carmaker has already revealed its specifications. In this report, we compare the Triber’s exterior dimensions and engine specifications with those of the Hyundai Venue.

While the Venue won’t be a direct rival to the Triber, it is expected that the base-spec Venue will be in the same price range as the top-spec Triber. Since the Triber is a sub-4m seven seater vehicle, it doesn’t have many direct rivals. The Venue is a five-seater sub-compact SUV that rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon.

Dimensions comparison: Triber’s long wheelbase should be its USP!

Triber vs Venue Dimension Comparison
Triber vs Venue Dimension Comparison
The Renault Triber is not the longer and wider car in this comparison, but it is taller than the Venue. It remains to be seen which of the two cars is more spacious, but the Venue could be the one that may seat three in relatively more comfort since it is the wider of the two.
Triber’s speciality lies in its long wheelbase, which may free up more room in the Triber’s cabin compared to the Venue. Triber has the bigger boot of the two cars and given that multiple seating configurations are also possible, it should be the more utilitarian car of the two.

Powertrain comparison: Seven seat Triber’s 1.0-litre engine raises some questions

Renault Triber vs Hyundai Venue Engine Specs Comparison
Renault Triber vs Hyundai Venue Engine Specs Comparison
There are two petrol engine options available with the Venue — 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated unit and 1.0-litre, turbocharged. The turbo-petrol engine is the one that is not available in the base variant, and it is also more expensive than the 1.2-litre unit in the S variant. Therefore, this comparison should ideally be between the Venue’s 1.2-litre unit and the Triber’s 1.0-litre engine.

Between these engines, the Venue’s 1.2-litre unit is more powerful. But it is not available with an automatic transmission. Triber’s 1.0-litre engine will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options, however, it remains to be seen if it is adequately powerful to haul the car with seven passengers on board.

Should you wait for the Triber or buy the Venue?

If space, utility and style are the key attributes that you look for in your next car then it will be worth waiting for the Triber and taking a decision when you see both the cars in person. The Venue would win hands down if features, style and performance is what you want.

Tata Harrier With Black Exterior & Interior Might Come Soon

Tata Motors has showcased the Harrier mid-size SUV at its 2019 annual general meeting in black exterior paint. Tata does not offer the Harrier in black colour as of now. However, it looks like the manufacturer will soon start selling the mid-size SUV that rivals the likes of the MG Hector and Jeep Compass in black colour.

Tata Harrier

Apart from the new exterior colour, the showcased Harrier also featured a black interior with a silver element on the dashboard. At present, only the lower XE and XM variants of the Harrier get an all-black cabin, but these don’t get the silver finish on the dashboard.
The Harrier that was showcased with the black-silver cabin was equipped with terrain response modes, which are exclusively available in the Harrier XZ right now. So, while it remains to be seen whether Tata would offer black colour on the Harrier across the lineup, it is certain that the variant that was showcased was either XZ or another new variant that would feature amongst the top variants in terms of equipment on offer.

This new petrol mill has the capability to generate a max power output of 96 hp along with 120 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the diesel version of the car gets powered by the accomplished 1.5 litre, 4-cylinder TDCi oil burner which is good to belt out a peak power output of 100 hp along with a top torque of 215 Nm. Apart from mildly refreshing its Freestyle, Ford has also launched the refreshed versions of its Aspire subcompact sedan model recently. The new Ford Aspire facelift shares quite a lot with the Freestyle when it comes to visual appeal, features and engines.
